Did you know...?
RENOVETEC is carrying out a course of 32
hours about solar thermal power plants
and safety at workplace, for a
plant that has ACCIONA
Company in Andalusia. It is the third such training activity performed
by RENOVETEC for ACCIONA, where over 70 operation and maintenance
technicians have been formed in solar thermal power plants and safety
at workplace. The plant officials expect that the plant technical
training is not independent of the Occupational Health and Safety
training, but both are united and fused into a single training activity.
RENOVETEC has participated in training
activities in all operational plants and in plants in construction that
ACCIONA has in Spain. RENOVETEC has already conducted over 150 training
hours in the company's plants, and it has trained over 100 technicians
from its 4 existing solar thermal power plants

RENOVETEC participates in the expert's
report of accidents related to power plants. It is currently involved
in determining the root cause of a repetitive nature accident that
affects a known cogeneration plant equipped with Wärtsilä engines. In
this case the Technical department acts as an independent expert that
will suggest to the various involved companies (manufacturer,
maintenance companies, property and insurance companies) analyze on the
event, which will help to determine the responsibilities of each part.

RENOVETEC is providing ELECNOR with the sixth
module of the training program in solar thermal power plants. This
module is dedicated to a plant operation and maintenance, and
throughout the course, it is examined the flowchart, the budget for
Operation and Maintenance, energy balances and efficient operation, the
various modes of operation, preventive maintenance plan, the main
breakdowns or failures, spare parts and tools. Three practices are
carried out: O & M budget calculation, energy balances, and
preparation of the HTF system maintenance plan.
RENOVETEC
has carried out the BOROSCOPE INSPECTION of a SIEMENS turbine installed
in ATLANTIC COPPER (Huelva). The inspection was carried out with a
state of the art STORZ borescope, equipped with a probe of 6 mm and 2 m
length with an addressable lens by an external control, with a field
depth of between 20 and 80 mm and with the possibility of laser
measurements of found defects. RENOVETEC is one of the few companies
that can provide the service of independent Boroscope inspections, and
usually carries out inspections in gas turbines, gas engines, steam
turbines, heat exchangers and transformers with the state of the art
borescopes.
RENOVETEC
has participated as an exhibitor at the fair GENERA 2011. On the
RENOVETEC stand have been more than 1000 professionals, more than 500
brochures and course catalogues have been distributed. Also, the SOLAR
SIMULATOR developed by the technical team of RENOVETEC has been
presented.
RENOVETEC has imparted in UNED a lecture on WIND
TURBINES MAINTENANCE, within the Master in Wind Energy offered by the
University on Distance. RENOVETEC will teach in the academic year
2011-2012 the corresponding module on on WIND TURBINES MAINTENANCE.
RENOVETEC
is providing the COURSE ON PLANTS, ENERGY INSTALLATIONS AND PACKAGE
UNITS in the COLEGIO DE INGENIEROS INDUSTRIALES DE ANDALUCÍA OCCIDENTAL
(Industrial Engineers College of Western Andalusia). The course of 20
hours, takes place in Seville spread over 4 days of 5 hours, so it is
compatible with the normal work activity.
RENOVETEC in Saudi Arabia has provided a course on
solar energy, both photovoltaic and solar thermal. The interest of the
attendees, all of them belonging to one of the most prestigious
universities in the country, has focused on the possibilities of power
generation such as seawater desalination. RENOVETEC, along with German
training company RENAC, will provide a series of courses in this
country again, to further a number of technical aspects related to
solar energy.
RENOVETEC is providing a training cycle on SOLAR
THERMAL POWER PLANTS in ELECNOR. The cycle consists of 6 modules:
- Course on Solar Field Engineering
- HTF Systems Engineering Course
- Water-steam cycle Engineering Course
- Steam Turbine Course
- Course on Solar Thermal Power Plants
Construction and Commissioning
- Course on Solar Thermal Power Plants
Operation and Maintenance
RENOVETEC has provided over 30 in-company courses
to ELECNOR business centers in Madrid, Valencia and Seville. In
addition to the solar thermal area, it also supports the training of
technicians in the areas of Combined Cycle and Hydro Power Plants
RENOVETEC has provided on 5th and 6th of April
2011 a Technical Course on Mini-Hydro Power Plants in ENDESA. The
mini-hydro plants, with powers between 1 and 50 MW will suffer a strong
push from the Administration, since the quotas allocated to this type
of energy are not being covered, and instead it offers an excellent
return. The course developed by RENOVETEC consists of a total of 13
chapters, which outlines the study of water resources, the necessary
arrangements, the economic viability calculation, equipment selection
criteria, detailed description of the equipment that make up a plant
and its maintenance.
RENOVETEC has participated in the event organized
by the Comunidad de Madrid and the FENERCOM, FUNDACIÓN DE LA ENERGÍA DE
LA COMUNIDAD DE MADRID (Foundation of the Energy Community of Madrid)
on Wednesday 30th of March, in which has addressed the application of
gas engines in the energy sector. During the event, the book GAS
ENGINES - THERMAL ENGINES FOR POWER GENERATION has been presented, in
which have collaborated RENOVETEC and its Technical Director, Santiago
G. Garrido, along with Diego Fraile Chico and Javier Fraile Chico.
At this event RENOVETEC provided the conference
entitled "Selection criteria for gas engines in cogeneration power
plants." Download
it by clicking here.
RENOVETEC is providing a training cycle on SOLAR

- HTF Systems Engineering Course
- Water-steam cycle Engineering Course
- Steam Turbine Course

addition to the solar thermal area, it also supports the training of
technicians in the areas of Combined Cycle and Hydro Power Plants.
Renovetec will provide during the first week of
April a technical course of solar thermal power plants in Saudi Arabia.
The course, developed in English, will have Beatrice Scola as main
speaker, one of the regular contributors to RENOVETEC
RENOVETEC has provided from 7th to 11th of Marchan
Advanced Course of Solar Thermal Power Plants in the CENIFER , Centro
Nacional Integrado de Energías Renovables (National Integrated Centre
of Renewable Energy) in Pamplona, 40 hours. The programme, developed
specifically for this training, consists of 5 modules and covers all
key aspects of solar energy: the solar field, the HTF system, the steam
generation train, water-steam cycle, steam turbine and the electrical
systems of a plant.
RENOVETEC will invest € 2 million in the
acquisition of spare parts for power plants. Most of the stock will be
designed for solar thermal power plants that are being built across the
southern part of the peninsula. The stock parts will allow a solar
thermal power plant availability of critical parts of different systems
within 24 hours.
