HTF SYSTEM
IN SOLAR THERMAL POWER PLANTS

A solar thermal power plant consists essentially of four separate systems and coupled together: the radiation collection system, the thermal oil system, the energy storage system and power block. The heat transfer fluid (HTF) transfers the energy collected by the parabolic trough collector to the power block, through two sets of heat exchangers. The steam produced in these heat exchangers is used in the steam turbine, to generate rotation mechanical energy that in the generator will be transformed into electrical energy. A thermal oil system or HTF (heat thermal fluid) is thus the circulatory system that connects the heat captured and the reduced electric power. To operate the system and for the hot oil characteristics are required a number of auxiliary systems: pumping system, replacement system, antifreeze filtering, etc.
